Sculpture "The Bronze Girl" in Klaipėda

"The Bronze Girl" is one of the most charming and recognizable small-scale sculptures located on Martynas Mažvydas Pedestrian Avenue in Klaipėda, Lithuania. Created by the renowned sculptor Klaudijus Pūdymas, this artwork was unveiled in 2013. It depicts a barefoot little girl with two playful pigtails, sitting with her arms tightly crossed, watching passersby with a calm, dreamy expression.

The bronze figure is integrated directly onto a heavy granite bench, making the art accessible and interactive—inviting anyone to sit down right next to her for a brief rest or a photograph. Over the years, the sculpture has become a beloved symbol for the local community; during cold autumn and winter months, residents frequently dress the girl in tiny knitted socks, scarves, or hats to keep her warm. Sponsored by the company "Vakarų medienos grupė", this piece beautifully enriches Mažvydas Avenue's unique open-air gallery.
