Ancient wooden barn with a mossy thatched roof at the Daugava Museum

At the open-air section of the Daugava Museum, an ancient barn stands as a historical rural outbuilding. This structure is built by combining wooden plank cladding on its gable end and traditional logs on the side wall. The building features a distinctive gabled thatched roof that has become densely overgrown with greenish-brown moss over time, giving it a particularly authentic and antique appearance.

The facade of the barn shows two large, open wooden doors that reveal the dark interior of the building, with one door featuring a small informative display panel. At the upper part of the gable end, there is a smaller wooden hatch door. Near the foundations of the building, which are made of fieldstones, a small pile of firewood and some farm tools are placed, complementing the historical setting.

The outbuilding is completely surrounded by large, old deciduous trees with lush, bright green spring foliage, creating a shaded and peaceful park atmosphere. The ground around the barn is covered with a natural lawn and worn dirt paths. In the distance, between the tree trunks, the wider territory of the museum's nature park subtly opens up.
