Kuldīga Main Library on a sunny day
The image features the Kuldīga Main Library, housed in a historic and architecturally significant yellow brick and plaster building in the center of Kuldīga. Originally constructed in 1875 as the Great Synagogue of Kuldīga, the building is a prime example of Eclecticism with distinct Neo-Romanesque influences. The facade is characterized by a rhythmic arrangement of windows: segment-arched windows on the ground floor and tall, elegant semi-circular arched windows with decorative tracery on the upper floor. The roofline and corner projections are adorned with decorative cornices, arcades, and small turrets, lending the structure a monumental and majestic presence. In 2011, the building underwent a professional restoration and adaptive reuse project, transforming it into a modern, publicly accessible library that seamlessly blends historical heritage with contemporary functionality.
