River Ierikupite waterfalls

The small river Grūba (Ieriķupīte, Melderupīte) flows into a deep ravine behind the road A2, where on a short section of the river four waterfalls are located – 2.3 m, 0.5 m, 1.7 m, and 0.8 m high, which consist of dolomite rock outcrops from Pļaviņu suite.

The river gradient has long been used in the Ieriķu mills (name of mills dates back to a map issued in 1681), which burnt down in 1987, but are restored in part nowadays, and the ruins are conserved, and the mill-wheel is erected. The river Melderupīte (river of millers) got its name from the mills.
