The stylized frame "Ierāmē Talsus" (Frame Talsi) is a modern environmental art installation located in the town of Talsi. It stands within the historic Ķēniņkalns Park (City Garden), situated on one of the town's highest hills.
The installation is a relatively recent addition to the urban landscape. It was erected in late 2022 as part of a major revitalization project for the Ķēniņkalns territory. The visual concept and design were developed by "BM – Projekts," while the metal construction and on-site assembly were carried out by the local company "LAC serviss."
The primary function of the frame is to offer an interactive way to experience the local scenery. Positioned at a strategic vantage point on the hillside, it visually captures and "frames" the picturesque landscape of Talsi, including the historic old town architecture and Vilkmuiža Lake. The installation serves as a popular photo-stop for tourists and residents to take scenic and memorable pictures.
The Easel: In addition to the frame itself, the viewing area features a stylized artist's easel, reinforcing the theme of treating the town's natural landscape as a living painting.
Handcrafted Placement: Due to the exceptionally steep terrain of Ķēniņkalns, heavy machinery could not access the designated viewpoints. Consequently, much of the landscape work and installation process required extensive manual labor.
