Frozen ice wall on coastal rocks in Užava
The image shows a massive formation of ice and frozen spray completely covering a pile of coastal rocks on Uzava beach. The ice wall has formed as a thick, yellowish-white layer featuring countless icicles and frozen bands. The brown tones of coastal sand and rocks peek through the ice layer, creating a contrasting interplay of textures.
The surface of the ice is uneven and embossed, indicating strong wind and wave action that drives water onto the rocks, where it freezes instantly. In the foreground, the ground is covered with a thin, grainy layer of snow and ice, where sunlight creates tiny shadows and sparkles. This natural formation acts as a temporary ice armor for the shore.
Sunlight falls from the side, highlighting the depth of the ice shapes and the translucency at the tips of the icicles. In the upper part, coastal snowfields are visible, stretching further inland. The view is harsh yet beautiful, demonstrating the power of nature and the impact of cold on the Latvian coastal landscape in mid-winter.
