Versupite bog

Located within Ķemeri National Park, the Vēršupīte wet woods (Vēršupītes dumbrājs) is a unique, naturally flooding deciduous forest. The Vēršupīte river winds through the area, flooding the surrounding woods during spring and heavy rains, which creates a specific habitat for rare plant and animal species.

The forest is dominated by black alders and ash trees capable of withstanding prolonged moisture. It serves as an essential habitat for various woodpecker species and other cavity-nesting birds. To allow visitors to explore this untouched nature without damaging the fragile ecosystem, a dedicated boardwalk (The Wet Woods Trail) has been built, starting near the "Meža māja" nature education center.
