Memorial sign of Jelgava Little gate
Mazo (Little) gate memorial sign is installed near the Raina and Saknudarza street crossroad, where on the other side of Raina Street there is also a Memorial sign for Jelgava city fortifications and 4 gates. Little or War Gates were the second most prominent behind Anna's gates.
The city wall was built in the middle of the 17th century - on the map of 1659 it is visible that traffic is provided by four main gates: Lietuvas (Lithuanian), Dobele, Ezera (Lake) and Mazie (Little) Gate. As the times changed, the city wall lost its significance – It also became an obstacle to the building of the city, therefore, in the first quarter of the 19th century was made a decision to demolish the wall.
