Ventspils Library is a municipal cultural, educational and information institution. The library deals with reposition, systematization, cataloging, bibliographic description and maintenance of printed works, electronic materials, manuscripts, and other documents and makes the information available to inhabitants of the city.
Ventspils Library consists of 5 structural units: Main Library, Children's Library, Library of Ventspils University College, Galinciems Library, and Parventa Library. Ventspils Library offers the community more than 206,000 printed works, 100 different periodicals and 8,000 audiovisual materials, free internet access points as well as bibliographical and full-text databases subscribed or created by the library itself.

Main Library
The largest library in the city offering its users a wide collection of fiction and non-fiction, different periodicals, audiovisual materials, materials about local history, free internet access points and public access to electronic catalogues and subscription databases. The library also organizes and hosts cultural and life-long education events, provides home library service to homebound residents of the city, as well as runs the EU Information Centre and the Nordic Countries Information Office. The Regional Training Centre provides free consultations on computer- and internet-related issues, helps acquire basic computer skills, and trains people who have vision impairments in the use of special equipment.

Children's Library
A library for children and teenagers composed of different materials: from picture-books and creative workshops in the Fairy Tale Room for preschool children to reference publications and learning materials. The library organizes quizzes and competitions, as well as different activities aimed at encouragement of reading and promotion of information literacy. The library provides free access to the internet, electronic catalogues and databases.

Parventa Library
A library for children and adults, with a comprehensive collection of books and periodicals and free access to the internet, electronic catalogues and subscribed full-text databases. The library hosts cultural and life-long education events, exhibitions, and concerts. Services of the Community Information Centre and the Parventa Branch of Ventspils Digital Centre are also available there.
