“Kalēji” is a farm that breeds sports horses and beef cows. Horses have found their home in "Kalēji" for thirty years now. Starting from simple farm pets, we have gradually bred and selected the best foals to further produce higher-class sport horses for showjumping. To improve the quality of offspring, stallions are selected and imported from Germany.
Similar work is also done with Angus beef cows. They can be found all year round in outdoor pastures near the farm itself, on the shores of the Pāce pond or in the valleys of Raķupe. Although working with animals requires constant care, investments and farm improvements, it is a hobby and a joy for the owner of "Kaleji".
The daily life of the farm is very busy, because we cultivate the fields ourselves, harvest and prepare fodder for the livestock for the winter. We also train and prepare horses for sale by ourselves, which requires a lot of time, skill and patience. In "Kalēji" we also provide horse riding training.
We accept people of different ages for training who are committed to attending trainings responsibly and regularly. These conditions are necessary for the preparation of a good rider and horse, regardless of the level at which the rider has decided to develop himself in the sport. We ride with the most diligent riders and participate in competitions representing the name of the "Kalēju" farm.
For a wider group of people, as an annual tradition, we organize large-scale competitions in equestrian sports. They usually take place once a year at the end of summer. Riders of different levels are gathered with their horses, creative workshops, lottery and other attractions for spectators are held. The event usually gathers sports fans, animal lovers and families with children, because everyone has the opportunity to find an activity they like in a free atmosphere throughout the day.
We are always on the move, but we also find time for guests, so if you want to get to know us better, treat one of our horses with an apple, see our precious Angus bulls or caress the soft muzzle of a foal, come visit us and we will meet in the green expanses of "Kalēji"!
