Theatre house "Jūras Vārti" hosts plays, different exhibitions along with classical and modern musical events keeping up the rustling life in Ostgals and gathering aficionados from Latvia and abroad.
The municipal limited company “Kurzemes filharmonija” was established in August 11th, 2009. The company, which is now located in Center of Performing Arts "Jūras vārti" and is running it, constitutes a modern, dynamic and internationally competitive recreation centre, that anyone can access – those living in Ventspils city, Kurzeme region, Latvia and also foreign visitors.
The aim of the company is to present professional performing art of various genres – theater, opera, ballet performances, concerts of classical, popular, experimental, folk and other music. Exhibitions of visual and new media art, and to support the development of professional interdisciplinary -projects and activities.
