Ķekava parish

Ķekava is a village in central Latvia. It is the centre of Ķekava Municipality. Ķekava is situated 17 kilometres south of Riga's city centre.

The first written historical sources related to Kekava name is about Kekava manor with watermill. Kekava manor is mentioned in Riga land dispute documents in year 1435. Kekava parish in antiquity was relatively sparsely populated area in north side of Zemgalu state with ethnically mixed population. Artefacts that were found, during archeological reaserches in Sauliesi mound and Klangu are typical for Baltic culture in the first millennium BC.
