Veteran Wych Elm in Victory Park

The Veteran Wych Elm in Victory Park was destroyed by the vascular disease. Its roots were not damaged, and the gardeners decided to give it a second life. Lithuanian and Latvian sculptors Donatas Mockus and Inese Valtere, who are known for their victories in the ice and sand sculpture festival in Jelgava and outside Latvia, in May 2018, engraved Latvian signs and sakura flowers in the Veteran Wych Elm, turning the dead trunk into an environmental object.
