Staldzene village, Latvia

Staldzene is an ancient and picturesque fishing village located on the Baltic Sea coast, just north of Ventspils. In 2001, following a powerful storm, a landslide on the steep bank revealed the Staldzene Deposit—the largest collection of Bronze Age jewelry and artifacts in the Baltic States (7th century BC). This discovery, now exhibited at the Ventspils Museum, points to ancient maritime connections and perhaps a historic shipwreck near these shores.
