Raņķa dambis, Riga
The Raņķa Dambis (Raņķa Dam) was first mentioned in the 18th century. In 1938 it was renamed Nameiša Bulvāris (Nameisis Boulevard) and later renamed Nameja Bulvāris (Nameja Boulevard). In 1942 it regained its former name Raņķa Dambis, which in 1944 was again renamed Nameja Bulvāris. In 1950 the boulevard was renamed Majakovska Bulvāris (Mayakovsky Boulevard) in honor of the Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. The historical name Raņķa Dambis was restored in 1990.
