Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Rezekne

The Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic church is located in the very centre of the city; it was built according to the design developed by the local architect Pavils Pavlovs (Pāvils Pavlovs) and devoted in 1937. Interestingly enough, many volunteers who processed and made most of the materials on-site participated in the construction of the church.

Three altars are the main element of the interior. The central altar is devoted to Our Lady. In the right nave, the altar devoted to the Heart of Jesus is located. The altar painting depicts the Heart of Jesus full of love and mercy. In its turn, St. Anton altar is on the left with an altar painting above.

In the garden, visitors can see the sculpture of Our Lady of Fatima. They say that Our Lady of Fatima miraculously appeared before three little shepherds who brought Our Lady’s message to the sinful worldly people. Today the Marianu Congregation takes care of the church.
