Monument to Edgars Kauliņš
On April 26, 2023, the 120th anniversary of Edgars Kauliņš, longtime chairman of the “Lāčplēsis” collective farm, was commemorated with the ceremonial unveiling of a monument in Lielvārde, at his former workplace. The monument honors Kauliņš’s life and legacy on the site closely connected to his years of work and leadership.
Edgars Kauliņš (1903–1979) arrived in Lielvārde in 1945 and soon earned the trust of local residents through his leadership and responsibility. As chairman, he played a crucial role in protecting the community during difficult post-war years, and his personal wartime service and honors also shaped his standing.
Kauliņš remained a deeply respected figure until his death, when people from across the country gathered to pay their respects. His name lives on through a city avenue, a secondary school, books, films, and stories that continue to reflect his lasting influence on Lielvārde and its people.
