Lake Žvelgaičiai (Žvelgaičio ežeras)

Lake Žvelgaičiai is a public body of water located in the Joniškis district of Lithuania, approximately two kilometers west of the town of Žagarė and near the Latvian border. The lake is situated within the protected territory of the Žagarė Regional Park. It covers an area of approximately 26.5 to 31 hectares, with an average depth of 1.5 meters.

The eastern shore of the lake features a unique geological formation—the Žagarė esker ridge—which is accompanied by a well-developed educational nature trail. The lake serves as a popular destination for tourism and outdoor recreation. A wooden pedestrian boardwalk and a pontoon bridge span the water, connecting the shore to a small island. The scenic landscape surrounding the lake includes viewing platforms, developed picnic areas, and the historic Žvelgaičiai hillfort located nearby. The site is widely used for swimming and licensed recreational fishing.
