Lagzdienes hill fort

It is situated in picturesque place on the riverside of Venta, approximately 10 km south from Piltene, towards Zlēkas. From the top of castle mount it is possible to see three meanders of Venta at the same time. Up to 1234 it was the castle of Couronian ruler Lamekins. Near the castle mount the river Pils disgorges into the river Venta (in bygone days its water was used to cure eyes). You can also see Zvaratkalna graveyard and Couronian cremation graveyard. Castle mount has viewing place as well as place for bonfire and picnic.
