Historic chain swivel bridge in Klaipėda

The historic chain swivel bridge in Klaipėda (Grandinių tiltas) is a unique piece of engineering heritage built in 1855 across the Castle Canal (Pilies kanalas). It is the only manually operated swing bridge in Lithuania that remains fully functional today. The bridge is rotated by human force using a special lever mechanism to allow ships and yachts access to the castle moat area. The structure spans approximately 13 meters and features a steel frame topped with a wooden plank deck.
