Šauklių I Pond
Šauklių I Pond (Šauklių I tvenkinys) is a small yet atmospheric water body in northwestern Lithuania, located in Skuodas District, within Šaukliai Forest, about 4 km south of Mosėdis. It was formed by damming a small unnamed stream, a tributary connected to the Erla River system. The pond is approximately 0.33 km long (north to south) and reaches up to 0.2 km in width, making it a quiet destination for short nature walks and peaceful relaxation.
The pond feels naturally hidden within the forest — its low shores are densely covered with trees, creating a calm, secluded setting surrounded by greenery. Nearby lies the well-known Šaukliai juniper and boulder reserve (Šauklių kadagynas-riedulynas), often linked with the landscape of the so-called “Šauklių tundra,” and visitors can explore the area via a marked educational trail. This combination of water, forest, junipers, and glacial stones makes Šauklių I Pond a distinctive stop for nature lovers exploring the region.
